Blue
Here is the guest we had at the Sugar Tree Cottage today for his own sort of "Tasting Tuesday" event. We were sipping our tea on the porch while he was dipping his break in the brook. Sure hope he often decides to take his tea time here at the cottage!

Earl Grey
Folks who are new to loose leaf tea sometimes wonder if there really is a difference between the grocery store tea bags and loose leaf tea. And yes, there absolutely is! A fellow tea consultant helped to show this comparison.
At the top of the plate you see the contents of a bagged tea purchased at the grocery store, and at the bottom beneath is the Tealightful Earl Grey loose tea.
Note how tiny the particles are from the tea bag. What you are getting in these are "fannings" or tea dust, what is left over from the full tea leaf.
Now look at the Tealightful Earl Grey. That’s how tea should be. We know you can taste the difference, but wanted to show what really is in that tea bag

Olives for dessert
Working on a new project! Olives in dessert recipes. Learning first how to "candy" them, and baking them into chocolate goodies.
Internet search lead me to these fancy things as well...

Eastern Shore Maryland Honey
With honeys from star thistle, bamboo, avocado, orange blossom and more, the Waxing Kara Eastern Shore Maryland Honey House is located in Owings Mills, Maryland, where each jar of honey is bottled and packaged by hand. Raw, unpasteurized, and Star K Certified Kosher, it is "more than a sweetener. It is a sweet, curative, natural, ancient food that feeds the mind, the body, and the soul." Agreed. Though I am currently on a journey to try all of the honey flavors, they also carry an incredible line of spa items, from scrubs to soaps to balms and deodorant.

Holiday Treat w/Cider and....
You have all heard me rave, often, about the loose leaf teas from Tea Queens, and I am known to get very excited about Seasonal Teas! Lately I have been enjoying "Holiday Treat", which is a blend of selected black tea, apple pieces, cinnamon bits, coriander, flavoring, cardamom pods, orange slices, pink peppercorns, and cloves... and I absolutely love it. I will be stocking up on this blend!
Yesterday my son was home from school, so we tucked in and enjoyed a hot cup or two of this tasty tea while watching the snow quietly fall outside the window, cats curled up beside the woodstove as the Maine Winter officially began.
Today, following a romp through the woods with the cats and a few attempts of sliding down hills on old wooden sleds, I steeped a special cup in hot apple cider* from North Star Orchards in Madison just for me, added a jigger of Organic Bourbon Whiskey from Split Rock Distilling Company in Newcastle, and a tea spoon of maple syrup from my own trees here in Freedom.
Holiday Treat Tea? Indeed, I hereby mark today the holiday called "Day After Snow Day in Maine"
*Tea can be hot or cold steeped in apple cider, cranberry juice, wine, grain alcohols... the choices can be endless! Ask me for suggestions
